Three more amendments to be added to 20A

The Cabinet  of Ministers has decided to bring three more amendments to the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

This decision has been arrived at the Cabinet meeting held this evening. 

Accordingly, the clauses in the 19th Amendment to the Constitution with regard to the composition of the Cabinet and Auditing Services Commission will remain unchanged.

The Cabinet presided over by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has also decided to limit the presentation of Emergency Bills to Parliament except issues with regard to national security or national disaster.

Sources said that these amendments will be adopted at the Committee Stage at the end of the debate on the 20th Amendment to the Constitution.

The President has met the Government Parliamentary Group after the Cabinet meeting and the Government group members have been apprised on the decisions taken at the Cabinet meeting.
