Visit to lockdown hotel in Negombo

Two Kalutara PS members expelled from monthly meeting

Two councillors in the Kalutara Pradeshiya Sabha (KPS) were expelled by the KPS Chairman Sanjeewa Ariyarathna at the monthly meeting on October 13.

Independent party members M.T.Chandana Sri Nath Fernado and W.A.S. Lalinda were asked to refrain from entering the KPS Chamber as they had visited a lock down hotel in Negombo recently as members shouted demanding them to leave the chamber.

They told that they had not visited any locked down hotel.   However, several members showed the Chairman a few photos of the members at the hotel. But they said the photos had been taken a long time back before the COVID-19 outbreak.

However, the two councillors were sent out and the meeting was adjourned for half an hour. The two members were taken to the Kalutara General Hospital by the Pothupitiya PHI assisted by the Kalutara North police officers yesterday for a PCR test.
