Ampara District Secretary D.M.L. Bandaranayake said it is the prime responsibility of all officers to extend their fullest support and co-operation to fight the battle against the COVID-19 pandemic.
He was addressing a meeting at the Ampara District Secretariat auditorium, which was held to discuss all preventive measures that should be followed to combat COVID-19 virus in the Ampara District.
This meeting convened by the District Secretary Bandaranayake was attended by Additional District Secretary V. Jegatheesan, District Disaster Management Centre Assistant Director M.A.C.M. Riyas, Regional Directors of Health Services, Divisional Secretaries, Heads of Predeshya Sabhas, Urban Council, Religious heads and representatives of the Security Forces.
District Secretary Bandaranayake said we cannot ignore the second wave of the pandemic since this time it is worse than the earlier. Each and everyone should be determined to work sincerely and with the sense of responsibility to prevent the spread of COVID-19. He also stressed the importance of wearing masks, maintaining social distance and washing hands always.
“Heads of departments, co-operations and other institutions must provide all facilities to the public. Passengers who use the public transport should strictly follow the health guidelines issued by the Government. Those who ignore or breach these instructions should be severely dealt with,” he said.
He instructed all divisional secretaries to be very cautious over the strangers coming to their areas. They were asked to inform the public to be vigilant and inform them.
Various other suggestions and ideas were also taken into consideration.
