Fund to be set up to renovate Deegawapi temple
The Cabinet of Ministers approved the proposal made by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to establish a trust fund for the collection of funds for performing the renovation and conservation activities of Deegawapi temple, Co-cabinet Spokesman Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said. 
 
He was addressing a media briefing held today at the Government Information Department to inform the decisions taken at this week's cabinet meeting. 
 
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has established a Presidential task Force for the management of archaeological heritage within the Eastern Province and the task has planned to raise funds for the immediate renovation and conservation of Deegawapi temple. 
 
Minister Gammanpila further said that the Cabinet approval has also been granted to carry out all renovation and conservation activities of this temple through a cabinet sub committee appointed with the representation of both private and public sectors chaired by Defense Secretary Major Gen. Kamal Gunarathna and a supporting committee under the supervision of the Presidential Task Force.
