Two activists of Samagi Tharuna Balawegaya, the youth wing attached to the Samagi Jana Balawegaya today filed two Special Determination petitions challenging the constitutionality of proposed 20th amendment to the constitution bringing the total petitions to twelve.
The petitioners Samagi Tharuna Balawegaya propaganda Secretary Rasika Jayakody and Lihini Fernando had named the Attorney General as respondent and seeking a declaration that the bill in whole or in part thereby requires the approval by people at a referendum and requires a two-third majority in Parliament.
