Compulsory training program for all tourist drivers

Registration and training at the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has been made compulsory for all tourist drivers, Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said.

He said this decision was taken with the aim of offering quality service to the tourists arriving in the country.

He said the “Travel Counters” system at the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport would be abolished to prevent exploitation of tour guiding drivers, adding that an alternative system would be introduced shortly.

The Minister was addressing a ceremony at the Tourism and Hotel Management Institute on Monday to hand over official Identity Cards for the members of the Airport Tourist Drivers Association.
