Moronthuduwa to see development

Moronthuduwa in the Kalutara DS Division will be developed under the Western Province Urban Development Authority (UDA) very soon, State Minister and Kalutara District Parliamentarian Jayantha Samaraweera said.

He was addressing the Moronthuduwa Development Project Meeting at the Sri Maha Bodhiya Temple in Moronthuduwa on Friday.

The Moronthuduwa will be facilitated with an administrative office complex, auditorium, a multi-purpose building, daycare centre, economic centre, bus stand, playground, jogging track, vehicle park, service centre and a children’s park, the State Minister said.

“We started the Moronthuduwa Development Project in 2002 when Minister Dinesh Gunawardena was the Urban Development Minister. But with the change of governments, it was abandoned. We will carry out this project in three stages,” the State Minister said.

Western Province Chief Incumbent and Supreme Registrar of Samastha Lanka Sasanarakshana Bala Mandalaya Most Ven. Gonaduwe Gunanada Thera, Western Province UDA Director Y.A.P.K Gunathilaka, Town Planning Assistant Director Ruwan Udaya Kumara, Town Planning Technician Chaturika Jayasekara, PS Councillors Chamila Kumara and Lasanthi Hemanala, Police Officers, SLTB Depot Officers, Development Officers, Samurdi Development Officers, GNs, and volunteer servicemen were present.
