A peace march by Local Inter Religious Committees (LIRC) of the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka was held at Akkaraipattu on Saturday. LIRC President I.L.M. Hashim and a large number of people from four communities participated in the event from the Sri Vijayarama Temple and marched to the Akkaraipattu Jummah Grand Mosque where a peace meeting was held. A carcass of a fishing cat was found in Diyabeduwa on the Girithale-Bakamuna Road yesterday. Wildlife officials suspect that the fishing cat may have been knocked down by a vehicle. They said that the drivers should exercise extra vigilance when driving on the road as it runs through the Girithale and Angamedilla Forest Reserves.
