Make your skin tone even!

You might be having a flawless face, but if you have a dark neck, the glory of your face gets dampened! We do so much for our face, go for regular facials, use home remedies to keep it glowing but, we often neglect our neck and fail to take care of it. Just like our face, our neck also needs regular cleansing and moisturising. Make time to pamper your dark neck with these simple yet effective home remedies.

Reasons for dark neck

If your neck darkens or turns black, you may also notice changes in skin texture, such as thickening. Although this may be alarming or may make you self-conscious, it is not a cause of concern in most cases. However, sometimes, skin darkening can be a sign of more serious underlying health issues.

While some may assume that a black neck occurs due to lack of hygiene or repeated friction due to neckpieces, this is untrue. In reality, a dark neck is a sign of having too much insulin in your blood. If you notice any symptoms, it's essential to test your blood sugar and promptly seek a diabetologist's advice.

Steps to combat the issue

Positive skincare and lifestyle habits may help to reduce the incidence of a black neck.

A person can take preventative steps by washing the skin with soap and water twice daily, using exfoliating scrubs to help get rid of dead skin, applying sunscreen daily, and eating a healthful diet with plenty of fruits and vegetables.

Many companies claim their products can help lighten the skin, but research has found that there is no conclusive evidence to support the effectiveness of the following ingredients: arbutin, azelaic acid, kojic acid, licorice, mulberry, turmeric, and vitamin C.

However, it is possible that applying products at home could provide some results. A person should always apply a new product to a small area or test patch first and wait 24 hours to ensure they are not allergic or sensitive to the substance.

Prevent dark neck issues

A black or hyperpigmented neck can be troubling, but it is often treatable. If a person is unsure of the cause of black neck or is having symptoms, such as itching and pain, they should see their doctor for a proper diagnosis.

Home remedies to lighten the neck colour

Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar tends to balance the pH level of the skin, giving it a natural glow. It removes dead skin cells.

The presence of malic acid in the ACV makes it a great exfoliator.

All you need to do is take two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and four tablespoons of water and mix them well. Apply this solution with a cotton ball and leave it for 10 minutes.

Once it is done, rinse it off with water. Repeat this process every alternate day.

Make sure you moisturize your skin after you have applied ACV as it can make your skin dry.

Baking soda

Baking soda is very helpful in removing dirt and dead skin cells and further promotes circulation. Apart from this, it also nourishes your skin from within.

Take two to three tablespoons of baking soda and enough water to make a smooth paste.

Apply this paste on the neck and let it dry. Once dried completely, scrub it off using wet fingers. Now, rinse the area with water. Moisturize your skin well. Repeat this every day till you see effective results.

Potato juice

Potato is said to have bleaching properties that may lighten the skin to a considerable extent. It also helps remove the dark patches and makes your skin tone even.

Take a small potato and grate it. Now squeeze all the juice out of the grated part.

Apply the juice on your neck and let it dry completely before rinsing it with lukewarm water. You can repeat this twice every day.

Yogurt

Yogurt has natural enzymes that act with the acids in lemon to give the desired results.

It further nourishes the skin and makes it smooth.
