The UDA is planning to build a multi-storied sports and recreation complex on top of the current car park. “This would include a large banquet hall, hotel rooms and other entertainment options.”

“The management of Water’s Edge would requested to manage this complex bring additional revenue to the venue.”

One of the largest and most patronized clubs in Sri Lanka, Otters has more than 5,000 members and this venture would offer the members more facilities and would also help to increase membership.

Currently Otters has facilities for Swimming, Water-polo and Life Saving, tennis and other recreational and social activities.

Earlier last month Thimbirigasyaya Divisional Secretariat issued notice to Otter Aquatic Club to vacate the premises. It was said that the club set up 87 years ago has not paid nearly Rs 30 million, as taxes.
