Kalmunai Mohamood Ladies College Bio Science student Fathima Zaireen brought a Gold Medal to Sri Lanka by taking part in an International Science Technology and Engineering Competition. The event was held from January 13 to 16 in Indonesia with participation of 25 countries.

The event was held in collaboration with the Indonesia young Science Technology Association (ISTEC ADN IYSA) at Indonesia Jawa University. Zareen represented Sri Lanka and won a Gold Award and first place. Her family members, school staff welcomed her at the airport.

Zaireen also won first place in the district in her grade five scholarship examination. She got 9As for all her subjects for her G.C.E O/L Examination. She has taken part in several national level, district level, and provincial level competitions and had bagged several awards for English Day, Tamil Day and Science and Maths competitions. She is the late teacher Zakab Z Mounlana’s granddaughter.
