Committee findings on 20A to be presented to PM today

Sri Lanka People’s Front (SLPP) Chairman and Minister of Education G.L Peiris said that the findings of the Committee appointed to study the views expressed on the 20th Amendment to the Constitution will be presented to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa today (15).

He said that the recommendations of the committee will be presented to the Cabinet at the meeting on Wednesday and the future steps will be taken in this regard.

He was speaking at a media briefing held at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna headquarters at Nelum Mawatha, Battaramulla yesterday.

He also said that the present government would allow and consider the views of the people, especially in the formulation of a constitution.

Accordingly, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has appointed a committee to study the views expressed on the proposed 20th Amendment to the Constitution and submit a report to the Cabinet. Udaya Gammanpila, Wimal Weerawansa, Susil Premajayantha, S. Viyalendran, Dilan Perera and Premanath C. Dolawatta are the members of the committee.
