PM launches website

Chairman of the Dayaka Sabha of the historical Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya Dr. Saman Weerasinghe presenting a book titled Sri Kalyani  Duruthu Dharmadeshana – 12 to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa at the launch of the website of the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya. Chief Incumbent of the temple Ven. Professor Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkitha Thera, State Minister Prasanna Ranaweera and Parliamentarian Sisira Jayakody were present.

The official website of the ancient Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya – www.kelaniyatemple.lk – was launched under the patronage of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Saturday (12).

Speaking at the ceremony themed ‘Kalyaanodaa’, the Premier said the website would be useful for those interested in Buddhist philosophy to obtain knowledge, regardless of their religious affiliations.

He said it is possible for both clergy and laymen all around the world to seek answers to their questions or doubts relating to the Buddha’s teaching through this website.

Stating that the launch of such a website is the duty of the Government, the Prime Minister commended the temple’s Dayaka Sabha for fulfilling this duty without the support of the government.

The Chairman of the Dayaka Sabawa Dr. Saman Weerasinghe presented the book Kelani Duruthu Dharma Deshana - 12 to the Prime Minister at the ceremony. Chief Incumbent of the Kelaniya Rajamaha Viharaya Ven. Prof. Kollupitiye Mahinda Sangharakkhitha Thera was also present on this occasion.
