‘Journalists play major role in development’

“Journalists can play a great role in producing creative children. They must be educated to respect the National Anthem and Law and Order of the country. Then a sustainable development can be expected in the country,” MP Major Sudharshana Denipitiya said.

He was speaking at a workshop for journalists organised by the Dinamina editorial.

Denipitiya said the President has turned the prevailed administration, which has been unfit for the country. “Importing religious lanterns, kites, clay and several other things that can be produced locally have been banned. Ministers and State Ministers were appointed for batik, clay, and agro products among others,” he said.

“The People should participate in the development work of the Government. They can inform us if they see any errors in development projects. The best contractors should be selected to do such projects. The Attampitiya Road has not been rehabilitated yet because its contractor was lethargic. Narangala can attract tourists. But garbage have been disposed of in this area. The Police and Wildlife Conservation Department should stop such activities and arrest the culprits,” he said.

Dinamina Chief Editor Gamini Jayalath, Dharma Shri Kariyawasam, Staff Editor Asiri Mallawaarachchi, the Provincial Editor, and several others participated.
