Forty former MPs yet to vacate residences

Forty former Parliamentarians of the previous government have not handed over their official residences so far to the Government. The former MPs who are still using the official residences are requested in writing on four occasions to vacate their residences, but they have ignored the appeals made by Local Government and Provincial Councils Ministry Secretary.

Therefore, the new Parliamentarians look for accommodation. They have to stay at hotels in Colombo. Their plight has been directed to the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, a Kurunegala District Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian said.
