Batticaloa MC, UNICEF sign MoU for childcare project

The Batticaloa Municipal Council (MC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at improving the childcare sector at the Batticaloa Town Hall, yesterday.

UNICEF Representative in Sri Lanka Tim Sutton, speaking on the occasion, said that children are the future of the country and the world. Therefore, they should grow up in a safe and congenial environment, he added.

“UNICEF has extended financial support to the Batticaloa Municipality for this endeavour and will continue to support it with technical and other advisory cooperation,” he added.
