A 65-year-old man was killed in a wild elephant attack in Nikaweratiya, yesterday.
The victim has been identified as H.M.M. Thilakaratne, a father of three who was a carpenter by profession. He was a resident of the Mahakirindawa village in the Kurunegala District.
Police said that three persons have lost their lives during the past three months due to wild elephant attacks in the area.
Thilakaratne was attacked by a wild elephant while he was returning home after a fishing trip with three of his friends.
