Boat capsizes, Navy rescues two fishermen

A fishing boat had capsized in sea in rough waves on Wednesday and two fishermen on the boat were rescued by the Navy Rapid Response Rescue Unit, Kalutara, Kalutara North police said. They had left the North Kalutara beach for fishing.

The boat had capsized about two kilometers from the shore. The two fishermen had grasped two floating plastic cans of water and fought the waves for about an hour.

The fishermen (50 and 60) were residents of Kalutara.

They had been admitted to the Nagoda Hospital by a Suwasariya ambulance of the Kalutara North Police Station. The rescue operation had been assisted by Kalutara North Police.
