Rural Roads and Other Infrastructure State Minister Nimal Lanza said yesterday that road development activities will be carried out in the future in close coordination with various institutions, including the Water Supply and Drainage Board and the Ceylon Electricity Board involved.
The State Minister expressed these views at a discussion held at the Ministry Auditorium yesterday with representatives of the relevant institutions attached to road development activities in the Wattala Divisional Secretariat Division.
The State Minster said that the digging up of a road might happen as in the case of installing or repairing lines that supply water or electricity and such lines are often being laid in the middle of the road. As a result, the road system is severely damaged. Therefore, the relevant authorities have been instructed to look into the situation and carry out road development activities in proper coordination with the relevant agencies regarding the laying of plumbing and underground power lines.
