A six-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool at a hotel in Homagama, while his parents were attending a wedding ceremony in the adjoining hall, recently.
The child’s body was found by his parents after the ceremony concluded. The deceased is Sathmina Sandaruwan, a Grade 1 student of the Kiriwattuduwa Wijewardena Maha Vidyalaya in Pitipana South, Ambahena.
The father of the deceased, Samantha Jayalal, said this was a result of the negligence on the part of the hotel. Police said that there had been no pool attendants at the hotel at the time the incident took place. Kahathuduwa police are investigating.
