Lions Multiple District Environmental Partnership Endorsement and MOU signing programme

Lions Club International – Multiple District 306 held a Partnership Endorsement Event of the Lions Multiple District Environmental Programme on August 27 at the Auditorium of the Central Environmental Authority, Battaramulla.

The event was held in collaboration with the Central Environmental Authority, Department of Coast Conservation & Coastal Resource Management Sri Lanka, Marine Environmental Protection Authority, Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka and Coca Cola.

Central Environmental Authority Chairman S. Amrasinghe and Past International President Of Lions Organization Lion Mahendra Amarasuriya were the Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively on the occasion.

Hemantha Jayasinghe, Director General, Central Environmental Authority, Prof. Niranjanie Rathnayake, President Elect, Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka, Gamini Hewage, Director, Coast Conservation Department, Lakshan Madurasinghe, Director (Public Relations, Communication and Sustainable), Coca Cola Company, Lions Multiple Council 306 Chairman Lion Deva Peters, Multiple Council Vice Chairman Lion Sri Lal Fernando, Past Multiple Council Chairman Chamindu Abeywickrama, Multiple Council Environment Committee Chairman Lion Dr. Upali Jayawardena, Multiple Council Environment Committee Member 1st Vice District Governor District 306 B2 Lion Kaushal Rajapaksa, Past district Governor Lion Ranji Hewage, District Governors Lion Dr. Amitha, District Governor Lion Rasika S.Priyantha, District Governor Lion Alhaj Deshabandu MIM Razeek and first Vice District Govenors Lion Roshan Yapa, Lion Buddhika Rathnayake, Lion R I Rajkumar, Lion Amal Pussallage, Lion Uma Shankar, 2nd Vice District Governor Lion Shyana Jayalath, District Service Coordinators and Keos of the Leos club of Biyagama North participated in the programme. The Lions Club exchanged cooperative letters with the Coast Conservation Department, Coca Cola and signed MOUs with the Marine Environmental Protection Authority (MEPA) and the Institute of Environmental Professionals Sri Lanka (IEPSL) at this event.

This introduced programme consists of five awareness programmes:

1. Environmental Conservation & Pollution for school Children

2. Waste to Wealth and Responsible disposal of waste for public

3. Prevention of Marine & Coastal Pollution

4. Tree Planting Programme

5. Industrialists and Entrepreneurs to obtain Environment Protection License

Officials from Central Environmental Authority and other relevant institutions and Lion members representing six Lion Districts of the Multiple district 306 participated for this event.
