Barren paddy fields to be brought under the plough

Irrigation Minister Chamal Rajapaksa highlighting the previous regime’s policies that led to stagnation in the agricultural sector said that under the ‘Vision for Prosperity’ policy of the present government, he will develop the country’s irrigation networks.

He said that barren paddy fields which remained uncultivated for decades will be brought under the plough. The regime of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will ensure that the aspirations of the people are fulfilled.

The Nilwala Ganga project will be the country’s main irrigation project which will be a solution to the problem of scarcity of water in the Hambantota district, Minister Rajapaksa said.
