Muzammil pledges to uplift livelihoods of Uva residents

A.J.M. Muzammil, assuming duties as the Uva Province Governor, yesterday, said that he would strive to uplift the livelihoods of the people in his province.

“I have grasped the difficulties and problems in this underdeveloped province, and I hope to solve the burning problems and difficulties of its people with the assistance of the Central Government,” he said.

The Governor said he has focused his attention on housing issues and poor health facilities faced by estate workers.

“I will solve those problems as early as possible. Rural roads should be developed by selecting suitable contractors. Much like the Northwestern Province, the Uva Province is also a multi-religious area,” he said.

“When I was in the Northwestern Province, I helped to develop all the religious places and I also associated with all religious dignitaries there,” he added.

Governor Muzammil further said, “Extremists have no place in this world; everyone should respect the law. The new Constitution will solve many problems in the country. Therefore, public servants should carry out their work with dedication and honesty.”
