The fifth year player, all rounder, , right hand batswoman, right arm medium pace bowler, safe fielder in any position, provincial athlete and divisional volleyball player Manawaduge Navodya Nethmini Fernando has brought honour to her Alma Mater Wadduwa Central College.

Navodya commenced her schooling at Wadduwa Central and from her younger days she was keen on sports especially cricket and athletics. She initially played soft ball cricket and when her school commenced hard ball cricket in 2016 she attended cricket practices under Danushka Ranmuthu Perera

Her school entered the under 19 division one cricket tournament in 2016 and under Heshani Silva they came up to the second round and in the following year under the same skipper they reached the quarter finals. In 2018 they came upto semi finals under Shamini Withana and Navodya scored 36 runs and lost to Anula Vidyalaya, Nugegoda. In the following year too they came upto Semi Finals and she scored 68 runs and theylost to Rathnawali Balika Vidyalaya and 20 teams participated in the tournament. Last year under Chamini Virasha. they were the all island runners up to Devapathiraja College out of 42 teams

They played their first ever big match against Mahanama College, Panadura in 2017 and Navodya was unbeaten on 97 runs and in the following year she scored 79 runs and last year she was the vice captain to Chamini Virasha and scored 68 runs and totalled 244 runs in three big matches at a Bradmansque average of of 122.0 for the series. This year she is the captain of the team and due to Coronavirus the big match was postponed indefinitely and she missed the opportunity of leading her school in a big match. In the first big match she received the Most Valuable Player Award and in all three games she carried away the best performance trophy.

She toured Bangalore, India with the D. R. Cricket Coaching School under Nisa Mendis and participated in four matches and their team was the runners up and she received the Player of the Finals Award and it was a fine exposure for her With these performances she was selected for the 25 Member Squad from Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association for the under 19 World Cup 2020.

In addition to cricket Navodya represented her Alma Mater in Athletics, Elle and Volleyball her pet events in Athletics were discus throw, javelin throw and putt shot and she emerged champion in all these events in her school, Divisional and Zonal level and won third place in the Provincial meet and she was awarded School Athletics Colours. In Elle they were the all island runners up and in Volleyball they were the under 15 division one champions. In the under 15 age group she was the School Champion Athlete.
