Restaurant explosion in Abu Dhabi injures two Lankans, one dies - Embassy

The Sri Lankan embassy in United Arab Emirates yesterday confirmed that one Sri Lankan had died and another is under treatment in the ICU of a hospital following an explosion at a restaurant in Abu Dhabi on August 31.

The embassy in a statement said that embassy officials are in contact with the authorities and the hospital to provide any required assistance.

The Statement: An explosion had occurred at a restaurant in Abu Dhabi on August 31 Monday and two Sri Lankans were injured. The Sri Lanka Embassy officials visited the hospital to verify and confirm information regarding the Sri Lankans. One of the Sri Lankans had died and the other is receiving treatment in the ICU at the hospital. The Embassy in Abu Dhabi and the Foreign Ministry are in contact with the UAE law enforcement and the hospital authorities to provide necessary assistance.
