The Kalugamuwa Wewa reservoir in Gampahawatte, off Maspanna, Uva Paranagama, which is of benefit to a community of about 3,000 families needs urgent renovation.
Residents say the Kalugamuwa Wewa is thickly overgrown with aquatic plants.
Alluvial deposits have also made it shallow. Water has also been leaking out of the reservoir, while the sluice gates also need repair.
Urgent renovation of this reservoir is needed as the area is an agriculture-dependent one.
