Artisans market enlivens Arugambay

Dream Garden Resort in Whisky Point, Urani, Arugambay, held an artisans market a few days ago which was widely applauded by tourists staying in the area.

These tourists have had to have an extended stay in the country owing to the Covid-19 pandemic as there are no return flights back to their home countries.

When health guidelines were relaxed, many of them started coming to Arugambay which is blessed with sandy beaches and clear blue waters and is also one of the best surfing points in the world.

They had the opportunity of witnessing the colourful artisans’ market held under the patronage of Dream Garden’s Managing Directors Christa Schoen and Andrea Capuccini who are nationals of Switzerland.

There were more than 13 stalls of handlooms and handicrafts and paintings. Free transport was provided by Sasanka Dilshan of Panama Sasanka Safari Services to and from Arugambay, Ulle and Panama to the Urani Whisky Point for the convenience of tourists.

Local food and drinks and the swimming pool added to the colour of the event.

In keeping with Covid-19 related guidelines, social distancing was maintained. A limited number of tourists from the United Kingdom, the United States, Russia, Germany, Australia, China and Japan were allowed enter and they made use of the artisans’ market to purchase their requirements at reasonable prices.
