Police arrest six suspects over narcotics possession

Six individuals were arrested including a Bangladeshi national for possession of narcotics during the last 24 hours alone, police media reported.

Among those arrested is a drug trafficker from Thotalanga who goes by the alias of ‘Kudu Sanda’. Identified as Dinesha Sandamali Ranasinghe, the 36-year-old was arrested by Welikada police in Rajagiriya yesterday.

A resident of the Methsanda scheme, police say they have evidence to prove that she has been drug peddling. Police upon raiding her house, also found 26 grams of heroin, 6 mobile phones, 10 ATM cards and cash.

Police were also led to the residence of another drug peddler from Kotehena. The 38-year-old Raj Selvarani from Sumithrarama was arrested with possession of heroin. Meanwhile police also arrested a 43-year-old suspect from Daluwakotuwa in Negombo, police found 300 grams of heroin in his possession.

Police also arrested three suspects including a Bangladeshi national who had in his possession 700 miligrams of ICE in Borella yesterday. Another suspect was arrested in Kochchikade yesterday with 300 grams of heroin. Another suspect was arrested in Ratmalana with 2kg of cannabis.
