Woman fined Rs.30,000 for possessing venison

The Dehiatthakandiya Magistrate’s Court fined a woman Rs.30,000 after she pleaded guilty to possessing venison last Thursday.

The convict is a resident of Suriyapokuna, Dehiatthakandiya. The venison was found in her kitchen in a recent raid conducted by Wildlife Conservation Department officials following a tip-off.

The officials who conducted the raid were from the Henanigala Division of the Maduru Oya National Park.
