Acting Chinese Ambassador calls on Health Minister

Acting Chinese Ambassador Hu Wei called on Health Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi at the Health Ministry, recently, a Health Ministry spokesman said.

According to the spokesman, the discussion was on topics such as further strengthening the relationships between China and Sri Lanka, strengthening health service in the country, and the successful COVID-19 control implemented by Sri Lanka under the leadership of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Acting Chinese Ambassador Hu Wei said the Chinese Government assisted Sri Lanka in the past, and that the assistance will continue, especially to face COVID-19-related challenges. The Government of China also appreciates the support Sri Lanka has extended to China during COVID-19 pandemic, he added.

Health Minister Pavithra Vanniarachchi said that the Sri Lankan Government thanks China for the support they have extended to local health authorities to control the spread of COVID-19. She added that several Chinese nationals are working in a number of health projects in Sri Lanka.
