UPDATE: The leader of ‘Mahason Balakaya’ movement Amith Weerasinghe yesterday filed a writ petition in the Court of Appeal seeking an order to recount all ballot papers polled for the Kandy District during the last General Election.

The petitioner has cited Returning Officer of the Kandy electoral district, Counting Officer for the Kandy Electoral District and the General Secretaries of other political parties that contested for the Kandy District as respondents.
