UPDATE: The case filed against Parliamentarian Patali Champika Ranawaka and two others over an alleged accident at Rajagiriya in 2016, was yesterday postponed till October 7 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Kanchana Neranjani de Silva.
The case was filed against former Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka, his driver Thusith Dilum Kumara and ASP Sudath Asmadala over a hit-and-run accident at Rajagiriya in 2016. When the matter was taken up, the Counsels who appeared on behalf of the suspects pleaded to relax the bail conditions imposed on the suspects.
Considering the request, the Magistrate stated that she is not aware of the bail conditions imposed on them by the Colombo High Court. Accordingly, the Magistrate ordered the Registrar to obtain the High Court case record before the next calling date.
