CID obtains Interpol Red Notice for 14 wanted criminals

Police have obtained Interpol Red Notices to arrest 14 wanted criminals currently residing overseas. The acting Police Spokesperson told the media yesterday that many of these individuals are wanted for grave crimes as well as drug trafficking.

Acting police spokesperson SSP Ruwan Gunasekera confirmed that the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) obtained the Interpol Red Notices for 14 criminals but declined to name them or identify their locations as it may hamper ongoing investigations.

He said the Red Notices were obtained over the past two months. “We hope these criminals can be arrested soon and brought before court,” he said. He revealed that the information on some of these criminals had been obtained through information received by the special hotline 1997 during the last two months.
