The Negombo Magistrate yesterday ordered the release of four suspects including Negombo Prison Ex-Superintendent Anuruddha Sampayo on bail.
The suspects were charged with illegally providing facilities to the cells of individuals arrested and were detained for drug trafficking and related offences.
They were released on two personal sureties of Rs one million each.
Sampayo was arrested 11 days after the Negombo Magistrate’s Court issued a warrant for his arrest.
The other suspects are Chief Jailor Sarath Bandara, Acting Jailor Nishantha Senaratne and Second-tier Jailor Kalinga Kaluaggala.
