More Lankans stranded abroad return

Another group of expatriates from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar and India was brought to the island this morning, National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) sources said.

Accordingly forty individuals from Abu Dhabi, two from Doha and 77 from Chennai are among those expatriates and all of them will be sent to Quarantine Centres, managed by tri forces for necessary quarantine process.

A group of 174 individuals who underwent quarantine at  Passara, Gannoruwa, Rekawa, Boossa and Norochchole returned to their homes today.

According to the NOCPCO sources 28,323 individuals have been released from these quarantine centres so far while 2,298 are still under quarantine.

NOCPCO sources further confirmed that Sri Lanka has carried out 155,540 PCR tests so far.
