UPDATE: All Government schools will open for students of Grade 11, 12 and 13 today.
The Education Ministry announced that schools will be conducted from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm as the teaching time has been extended in order to cover the school syllabus.
Meanwhile, the Ministry urges school authorities, whose schools are used as election centres of the forthcoming General Election to stay at their respective schools from June 28, 29, 30 and 31. Academic activities of other students are scheduled to commence from August 10.
Govt. schools reopen tomorrow for Grades 11 - 13-Time: 12:30
Government schools for students in Grades 11, 12 and 13 will reopen tomorrow, July 27 after the prolonged vacation due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country from March, this year.
The school hours will be from 7.30 am to 3.30 pm, the sources said. Schools for students of other Grades would reopen on August 10 after the general elections.
Education Ministry sources said steps have been taken to assess the coronavirus situation in the country before reopening schools for students in higher Grades.
The Ministry has issued instructions to the heads of schools to strictly follow the health guidelines to ensure the safety of all students.
Steps have also been taken to brief state-run school principals and vice principals to be present at schools selected as polling booths, from Tuesday, July 28 - 31, the sources added.
