Sri Lankan cricketers begin training

The Sri Lanka cricket pool, divided into four groups, have already started their training at the R. Premadasa cricket stadium training centre from last July 21.

The 40 players have been divided into four groups, with every group consisting of 10 players. They will not meet other groups, and all activities are under health officials’ regulations and senior officials of SLC. The senior players groups are named A, B, C, and D, while 12 junior players are in the special group ‘E’. This is the first time national cricketers are doing their training at the R. Premadasa Stadium, after the lockdown periods, due to the COVID-19, which was nearly four months.

At one time, one group does their physical training exercises inside the Max Academy Gymnasium and another group does exercises outside, while groups are doing separate practice sessions at the practice wickets at the Max Academy premises, and all leading national cricketers are involved in these activities.

Earlier, selected players of the national squad did their residential special training sessions at CCC grounds and the Pallekele Cricket Stadium, and it was a success and was acknowledged by National Head Coach Mickey Arthur.

At the CCC grounds, there were 14 players at the training sessions, at Pallekele, 25 selected players were involved with the supporting staff, and this time, around 40 players are grouped ten each doing their training sessions, but the groups are doing their activities separately.
