UNP, SLFP not popular in Kalutara - Ajith Perera

Former State Minister Ajith P. Perera contesting the forthcoming election under the Samagi Jana Balawegaya ticket alleged that Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) candidates were playing the race card by telling voters in Kalutara that the previous government had ignored Muslims during their reign.

“SLPP candidates are painting a different picture in Muslim dominated areas in a bid to secure their votes by saying that the previous government had ignored Muslims and their concerns,” he said.

“The SLPP will receive their response when the votes are counted from Kalutara.” He added that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party had lost its popularity in the Kalutara district and so has the United National Party. “It will be between the Samagi Jana Balawageya and SLPP alone.” he said. Reiterating the work that he had done during his time as Minister of Power he said that they had initiated the Industrial Estate in Bandaragama which opened up a plethora of opportunities for young men and women to find jobs.

He also added that many development projects were initiated in the Kalutara district alone.
