‘Preksha’ drama festival from July 24 to 40

The ‘Preksha’ drama festival will take place from July 24 to 30 at the Elphinstone and Tower Hall theatres. The event will be graced by the Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The theatres reopened on July (15) in keeping with health guidelines, after they were closed for nearly three months because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The seven-day event will showcase Henry Jayasena’s Hunuwataye Kathawa” on July 24, Jaliya Rajapaksha”s Sokary on July 25, Rajitha Dissananyaka’s Sihina Horu Aran on July 26, R.R. Samarakoon’s Kelani Palama on  July 27, Jayalath Manorathna’s Thalamala Pipila on July 28, Tharanga Bandara’s Chavudari on July 29, and Chamika Hathlahawaththa’s Raja Man Wahala on July 30 at the Tower Hall Theatre.

Saimon Nawagaththegama’s Suba saha Yasa on July 24, K.B.Herath’s Jagan Ma on July 25, Bandula Jayawardena’s Bera Handa on  July 26, Punyasena Gunasinghe’s Dikthala Kalagola on July 27, Jayantha Chandrasiri’s Hankithi Dahathuna on July 28, Akhila Sapumal’s Guththila Kavya on July 29 and Dayananda Gunawardena’s Madhura Jawanika on July 30 will be staged at the Elphinston Theatre.

The dramas will be staged using half of the seating capacity following the health guidelines.
