Issues when obtaining leave for voting

CaFFE urges private employees to lodge complaints

The Campaign for Free and Fair Elections (CaFFE) urged private sector employees to lodge complaints if any issues were to arise when obtaining leave from workplaces to vote for the upcoming Parliamentary Election. CaFFE Executive Director Manaz Makeen said yesterday that the organisation has a special unit for such complaints, and that all received complaints would be dealt with immediately.

“Private organisations are violating voting rights of employees—it is a serious situation. As per the Election Commission’s election manifesto, it is the basic right of every citizen to vote, and all institutions must grant leave for their employees to vote,” Makeen said.

He added that CaFFE is taking steps to take action against organisations that don’t provide leave for their employees for the election.
