World COVID-19 cases top 13 million

The World Health Organization yesterday (14) reported that the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases globally has reached 13 million.

According to the WHO statistics since yesterday, the number stands at 12 880 565, and the United States of America is leading with more than 600,000 confirmed cases, due to several marches for Black Lives Matter and the currently Presidential Election campaigns underway.

The South American nation Brazil, is the second country with the highest number of cases with over 100,000 confirmed, and with the Brazilian president,

Jair Bolsonaro testing positive. In the Asian region, India is the third-highest confirmed with over 80,000 cases.

The death rate is globally approaching 600,000, many countries, have reopened after months of lockdown. Despite health guidelines, many restrictions by governments and getting back to normalcy new cases are reemerging and a possible second wave is infecting many countries.

The Covid-19 virus was originated in the Wuhu district of China last year, within the few months of 2020 it spread to many parts of the world causing countries to impose frequent lockdowns and curfews.
