Rajanganaya DS postal votes scheduled for July 28

Postal votes in Rajanganaya Divisional Secretariat which was postponed due to the prevailing situation is expected to be held on July 28 if the situation is under control, District Secretary and the returning officer of Anuradhapura, Attorney at Law R.M Wanninayake said.

“There are about 362 postal voters in the Rajanganaya Divisional Secretariat. So there would be no issue holding it on one day. The postal voting of Rajanaganaya was postponed as several people in the area were directed to self–quarantine.

Postal voting for the other health officials in Anuradhapura commenced yesterday,” he said.

He was addressing a press briefing at Anuradhapura Divisional Secretariat yesterday (13).

“The total number of voters in the Anuradhapura district is 57,000. The election is being held in the midst of COVID-19 - therefore we request the citizens to follow all the health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry,” Wanninayake added. Postal Voting for Health Medical Officers, Public Health Inspectors and other medical officers commenced yesterday (13).

There are 22 polling stations in the Anuradhapura district for the postal voting of health officials. Moreover, Wanninayake said that steps have been taken to ensure safety at vote counting centres.
