Four arrested over Jaffna explosion

Ilavalai Police arrested four persons responsible for an explosion in Jaffna, yesterday. The individuals had discovered the explosives when clearing a land and had injured themselves after lighting them on fire.

The suspects were admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for treatment before they were arrested by the police. The suspects are between the ages of 30 and 40, and are residents of Ilavalai.

Police suspect that the explosives are what had been abandoned by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam in the 30-year civil war. Investigations are continuing.
