CMC so far carried out over 4,000 PCR tests – Dr. Dinuka Guruge

The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) has conducted over 4,000 PCR tests in the Colombo District so far.

According to Colombo Regional Epidemiologist Dr. Dinuka Guruge, over 4,000 tests have been conducted since March, and the tests are carried out in risk areas and communities.

“The Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests are conducted targeting high-risk groups such as three-wheeler and bus drivers and conductors, private taxi service drivers and the most vulnerable,” Dr. Guruge said.

She added that three sites are tested per week, and the last was Crow Island in Mattakkuliya on Thursday (10).

“Many of the tests are done in communities around Colombo, and where the communities are most at risk,” she said.

The tests are conducted under the guidance of the Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, which supplies the testing kits.
