Three dead in lorry-three-wheeler collision

Three persons died in a head-on collision involving a lorry and a three-wheeler on the Wellawaya–Moneragala main road. Two of the victims are members of the same family.

The accident occurred around 10.00 am yesterday (10) opposite the Warunagama Army Camp in Wellawaya.

Another individual had sustained critical injuries.

A three-wheeler had collided head-on with a lorry near the Army camp.

The driver of the three-wheeler who had sustained serious injuries was admitted to the Wellawaya Base Hospital for treatment and later transferred to Moneragala Base Hospital.

The deceased were residents of Anapallama in Wellawaya.

The victims have been identified as 72-year-old U.P Malini de Silva, 37-year-old U.P Priyantha de Silva and 41-year-old P.K. Ruwan Priyadharshana.

The Wellawaya Police had arrested the lorry driver over the accident.
