NEC receives 160 election violation complaints

The National Election Commission in a press release stated that they had received 160 complaints related to the forthcoming General Election on July 7 and 8.

Reportedly, 40 complaints were lodged with the National Election Complaints Management Centre and 120 complaints have been received by the District Election Complaints Centre. Accordingly, a total of 2366 complaints have been received by the National Election Complaints Management Centre regarding the violation of election laws and one complaint was related to election violence so far.

However, the release said that a complaint received on assault that has been reported from the Mullaitivu District was withdrawn due to a Police report on the complaint stating that no assault had taken place and the incident was settled.

The complaints on violation of election laws and violent activities can be forwarded to the centers via telephone Numbers - 0112 2886179, 0112886421, 01122886117, Fax Numbers 0112 886551, 011 2886552, E [email protected] , Facebook – ‘Election Commission of Sri Lanka, Tell Commission – Election Commission of Sri Lanka’ and complaint also can be forwarded to the District Election Complaints Management Centers.
