A group of UNP dissidents are trying to mislead the people by using the party’s official colour and the UNP General Secretary has already made a complaint to the Election Commission regarding this, former UNP MP Navin Dissanayake said.
Dissanayake said the UNP has been using green as the party’s official colour and UNP dissidents who are contesting under a different party cannot use the UNP’s official colour.
Addressing a press conference in Nuwaraeliya yesterday, Dissanayake said the UNP
is a political force and the Elephant symbol, Green colour and Sirikotha are party brands which have been well established in the country.
“No one can destroy the UNP. Our party will prevail for over 100 years,” he said.
A number of crisis have arisen within the Samagi Jana Balavegaya and the party will become a non-entity after the General Election, Dissanayake said.
