SLPP never form joint government - Prasanna

Industrial Exports, Investment Promotion, Tourism and Aviation Minister Prasanna Ranatunga yesterday said that the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will never form a joint government with any political party.

He was addressing the gathering at a public meeting yesterday in Kalahugoda, Minuwangoda.

The Minster said that it is necessary to form a strong and stable government to bring forward the people's friendly campaign by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

“The previous Yahapalana government destroyed the country. We do not want this to happen again. People of this country are not ready to face the same fate again," the Minister added.

He added that no political party would pose a challenge to the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), and it is certain to clinch a landslide victory for the SLPP in the forthcoming Parliamentary election.

“Since no development work could be undertaken with a minority government, we will form a government with a parliamentary majority after the forthcoming general election and implement a people-friendly development programme,” he said.

Today, the United National Party (UNP) has been divided, and its members are accusing each other.

UNP ground level supporters are fed up with their accusations and charges each other. So, it is certain, a number of UNP and the People’s Power Alliance members and their supporters will join hands with us in the coming days. Then it is a simple task to get a two thirds majority for us," he added.
