‘Private pharmacies rendered significant service during lockdown’

All  small and medium-scale entrepreneurs should be assisted and  strengthened in order to push the country forward, Health Minister  Pavithra Vanniarachchi said.

Addressing  the opening ceremony of the Head Office of the Private Pharmacy Owners’  Association held in Pelmadulla, recently, she said that pharmacy owners in the private  sector have rendered a significant service to deliver drugs to people during the COVID-19 lockdown period.

Minister Vanniarachchi pointed out that owners of private sector pharmacies delivered  drugs to the doorsteps of the public, adding that it had not occurred in any other  Coronavirus-hit country in the world.

They did not let the public suffer a drug shortage, she said.

Minister Vanniarachchi also said that solutions will be provided to all issues  faced by the private sector pharmacy owners in the country, and that steps will be taken  to assist them and strengthen their businesses.
