‘Vote wisely to elect responsible MPs’

Voters must elect a responsible group of MPs to the next Parliament at the forthcoming General Election, as the whole country is now facing the ill effects of the 19th Amendment introduced by the ‘Good Governance’ government, SLPP Chairman Prof. G.L. Peiris said.

The SLPP Chairman was speaking to journalists in Kurunegala yesterday.

The country is now heading towards a downfall due to the shortsightedness and misadministration of then leaders Maithripala Sirisena and Ranil Wickremesinghe, he said.

“We have to rectify these mistakes and hence, a strong parliamentary majority is needed to support President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to lead the country towards progress for the betterment of the people,” he said.

“Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, has been compelled to apologise to religious dignitaries on behalf of his senior party members, as they are insulting the religions openly in the media. How can we expect justice and fair play for the people of this country from such political leaders?” Prof. Peiris asked.

‘President Gotabaya Rajapaksa is interested in developing the country economically utilising local resources, while improving the skills of our youth. Therefore, we request voters of this country to vote for the SLPP to build a prosperous nation in the future,” he said.
